summary BritNed powercable boosts hopes for European supergrid

The first highvoltage cable linked between The UK and many other countries has been started recently and it also represents the first atempt to make renewebale energy real . The BritNed energy cable is the first link since 25 years to maintain energy from other countries in Europe to the UK and the projet costs are near the 500 m pounds . The project is a collaboration between the Uk national grid and the Dutch Tenne T , in the UK it is stationed in the Isle of Grain near Kent and in the Netherlands in the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam . The Highvoltage DC cables make sure that energy can be trasported to other countries from a far distance which is not possible with the curent cables which only transport energy as far as 80 km . According to the spokesman of National grid the new powerline brings a lot plus points with it . the availibilty of certain windenergy and other sources make it much easier to export and import . Acording to Chris Huhn secretary of state and climate change says its a win-win situation because sharing wind energy becomes easier and the European market wil be unique in this form of sharing . The project has been received succesfully and energy has been swaped between The Uk and the Netherlands on the 31st of march . Plans to broaden the sharing of natural energy have been confirmed since December and even Prime Minister David Camron is on board , this includes solar power from germany and hydropower from Scandanavia . National Grid has also a national ambition to connect England and Scotland because Scotland has the best wind power recourse in the whole of Europe and this has been called project Bootstraps
